why i built nomadtable

in the summer of 2024, i was solo traveling in bergen, norway. my hostel was pretty unsocial, but i still wanted to meet people — that's usually why i stayed in hostels in the first place.


meeting people while traveling is one of the most beautiful things in the world to me. it creates a unique environment that speeds up deep friendships and creates core memories. i'd experienced this magic on past solo trips and wanted to make the process of meeting people while traveling more efficient, safe, and fun — so more people could experience it too.


i got back from that trip and immediately quit my job to build this app. i've dedicated my life to building and growing it ever since, fueled by the belief that no one should have to travel alone unless they want to.

Cool app but can be slow
I used this app while solo traveling in Japan, which was a nice way to meet people when I wanted company in an otherwise isolating country. Usage can be mixed. I find that the chatting function is clunky to re-open and to scroll through which isn’t helpful when trying to coordinate with others where my internet connection may not be great.
